Randomosity #47 - The Rock Show
March 2009
Pencil, tablet PC, Adobe Photoshop CS3
The concept for this comic spawned from the frequent Rock Band sessions my college roommates and I would have. During a "Make a Setlist" we picked "Still Alive" and were given the charity show prompt. We passed, wanting in-game money to further customize our characters, but then started thinking about it later. What if we HAD done the charity event and played "Still Alive"? Because you KNOW that the charity would have been for some kind of terrible disease and terminally ill patients. It was the most horrible thought ever, and after we all finished laughing hysterically, I scripted this comic.
The frills in panel one and the icons on the band members were taken directly from Rock Band, but the rest of the artwork is all original, taken from a pencil sketch directly to Photoshop in an attempt to keep the comic looking as close as possible to the game. The four band members designs are also an in-joke to fans of Fireball20xl and its staff members. All of them are my own extrapolations of the staff's avatars into Rock Band characters. The singer is me, the drummer is Psyguy, the bassist is Alan S' character, Mr. OMA, and the guitarist is Cailen Crow.
The fonts used are "Twelve Ton Goldfish", "DigitalStrip", and "Deathrattle" from BlamBot.com and "Rockwell" and "Microsoft San Serif" system fonts.
